Elvira Blanco (Caracas, 1990, she/her). I am an independent researcher and media producer, with a BA in Mass Communications from Universidad Monteávila, Caracas, and an MA in Media Studies from The New School, New York.
I am interested in new media art, media and migration, media and memory, and the politics of image circulation in the Global South –specifically Venezuela, at the moment. I try to explore those topics through my research as well as media making, and have worked as a videographer and editor for more than 5 years. I was also instructor at Universidad Monteávila (2013-2014), and recently I have been facilitating workshops related to media literacy and digital art.
As of Summer 2016, I am working at the contemporary arts platform Backroom Caracas, where I am in charge of producing a series of video art exhibitions.
